Riyadh Season 2025 continues to cement its position as the region’s leading entertainment destination by hosting Syrian theatre for the first time as part of its program, through two theatrical productions that reflect the depth of the Syrian theatrical experience and the diversity of its artistic schools, in a qualitative step that reinforces the presence of Arab theatre within the season.
This step comes as part of Riyadh Season’s ongoing approach to delivering diverse artistic content that brings together global productions and authentic Arab experiences, offering audiences the opportunity to explore different theatrical schools and highlighting the richness of the theatrical scene the season embraces each year.
Mohammed Al Ali Theatre will host “Ors Mtantan” from December 19 to 25, 2025. The social, heritage-themed play is set in the old neighborhoods of Damascus and highlights values of chivalry, generosity, and social solidarity through the character of “Abu Sakhr,” presented in an atmosphere inspired by the authentic Damascene environment.
Meanwhile, Bakr Al Shadi Theatre will host the comedy “Premature Birth” from December 24 to 28, 2025. Inspired by Italian theatre, the play is set in Rome and unfolds within a satirical comedic framework that addresses social paradoxes through clever storytelling and humorous situations, featuring a cast of prominent performers.
The inclusion of Syrian theatre productions in Riyadh Season represents a qualitative addition to the theatrical landscape, opening new horizons for audiences to experience a long-established Arab theatrical tradition, while reaffirming the season’s commitment to supporting artistic diversity and showcasing Arab creativity in its various forms.
