The second stage of the global WBC Boxing Grand Prix concluded yesterday, with the participation of 64 rising boxing talents from more than 40 countries. The tournament is part of an ambitious sports initiative organized by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in partnership with Riyadh Season.
The bouts took place over two consecutive days in Boulevard City, featuring 32 decisive matches that determined the fighters advancing to the later stages of the tournament, following a single-elimination format officially approved by the WBC.
The boxers competed across four approved weight divisions: Featherweight, Super Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight, in a professionally organized event that highlights the Kingdom’s growing stature as a global hub for major sporting events—especially in the sport of boxing, which has seen rising popularity among fans.
The results of this round were highly anticipated by boxing fans around the world, as it marks a pivotal phase in the championship’s journey, ahead of the upcoming third stage in August, and the grand finals scheduled for December, when Riyadh will be officially crowned the global capital of WBC champions across four weight divisions.
The first stage of the tournament, held in April, saw the participation of 128 boxers and witnessed high levels of excitement and competition, with thrilling matchups that captivated the attending fans.
